Craft Awards for Gamification for Janssen

Winner: PM Society Digital Awards 2012

We are immensely pleased to be recognised for our work developing a mobile application that uses Gamification Theory to help people with ADHD improve organisation and demonstrate progress over time.

People with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) find organisation, prioritisation, time management of daily tasks and long-term goals extremely challenging, resulting in frustration and low self-esteem. There was no single tool to help people with ADHD manage these challenges.

Using Gamification Theory, which uses game thinking and game mechanics in non-game contexts to engage users in solving problems, the app ensured they could overcome these challenges and demonstrated Janssen’s ongoing commitment to the ADHD community.

Judges comment:

“The best example of pure gamification we have ever seen. Had all the right ingredients showing a real understanding of the ADHD brain.”

With more than 10,000 downloads since launch it has attracted exceptionally positive feedback from users such as:

“This has clearly been developed by people who understand how the ADHD brain works and how stressful and difficult it is for us to organise our lives…my heartfelt thanks to everyone who has been involved in the development of this app”
