Doing what we can and having fun doing it: our fundraising month
September 2020 admin
As we wrote about in a recent blog, charities are facing a number of challenges just to stay afloat amidst the current COVID-19 pandemic. Fundraisers are being cancelled and public donations are not as abundant as they have been.
Included within this are patient and advocacy groups who play a crucial role in supporting patients and carers across the UK.
As part of the healthcare industry, at Aurora we believe we have a role to play in providing our support where we can. Therefore, in addition to our ongoing partnerships and patient-centric-focused work, we recently engaged in a fundraising month, undertaking a number of fun activities and challenges in order to raise money for charity.
Within the current climate, these activities included virtual quizzes, outdoor scavenger hunts, step-count challenges and more – all socially-distancing friendly and good fun!
Our charity of choice, as voted for across Aurora, is Mind, a mental health charity that provides advice and support to empower anyone experiencing a mental health problem. The COVID-19 pandemic is having a huge impact on everyone’s mental health and we anticipate Mind is receiving an overwhelming surge from those in need of mental health support.
We’re extremely proud to be supporting this wonderful charity that does an amazing job at helping countless people across the country.
In addition to our fundraising efforts, our charity activities also provided us with the perfect opportunity to connect as people. While we have already shifted our entire business to work remotely, deploying business-critical systems for everyone to work effectively and embracing zoom-meetings as the new normal, something that is certainly hard to replicate while in this virtual reality is company socials and impromptu, non-work discussions.
Partaking in a number of challenges allowed us to focus on something new and additionally meaningful (as well as our ongoing patient-centric and healthcare community-focused work) and something we certainly recommend, no matter how big or small. This is about helping where we can.
Let us know of any fundraising activities you have been doing to support charities in the comments below.
We’re looking for inspiration for our next event!
